What is matcha?
Matcha is a vibrant and finely ground green tea powder renowned for its exceptional flavor and health benefits. Unlike traditional loose-leaf green tea, matcha is made by carefully shading tea plants before harvesting, which enhances its chlorophyll content and creates its distinctive deep green color. After harvesting, the leaves are steamed, dried, and ground into a fine powder. This unique preparation method uses the entire leaf, giving it an earthy, umami flavor. It is terrific on its own or as an ingredient in smoothies, desserts, savory dishes, and one of our favorites—the matcha latte. Matcha also comes in different grades based on quality and how they are best suited for various uses.
Ceremonial Grade
The finest quality matcha, crafted for Japanese tea ceremonies. Its vibrant green color, sweet flavor, and smooth texture make it ideal for sipping as a pure tea.
Culinary Grade
Suited for cooking and baking, culinary matcha has a robust flavor and is less vibrant in color. Versatile for various recipes like lattes, desserts, and savory dishes.
