An introduction to Chinese tea
An introduction to six types of Chinese tea
Tea, the world’s most consumed beverage after water, has its origins in China and has been cherished there for thousands of years. Over the centuries, Chinese tea has profoundly influenced culture, politics, philosophy, and trade, while also giving rise to some of the world’s most remarkable teas. Today, Chinese tea is traditionally classified into six main categories: white, green, yellow, oolong, black, and Pu-erh. Although all these varieties come from the same plant, their characters differ greatly, shaped by distinct processing methods and traditions.
Brewing, serving, and savouring fine Chinese tea is a sensory experience—refined, delicate, and deeply layered. It is tea that can be seen, smelled, tasted, and even felt, offering a moment of calm and connection.
At Sing Tehus, we warmly invite you to discover and experience these six types of Chinese tea, each with its own rich story, flavour, and spirit.
