This gyokuro is the new variety "Okunoyama" born from the "Okunoyama" tea garden that has continued since the Muromachi period.
Grown using traditional methods and carefully hand-picked, this authentic Uji gyokuro tea is then rolled by a tea master to create the perfect finish and beautiful tea leaves. This variety is known for its deep green color, unique aroma, and rich flavor.
When brewing Gyokuro Okunoyama it is recommended to use water at lower temperatures (around 50 degrees Celsius) to highlight the subtle nuances of the taste.
Founded in 1879, Horii Shichimeien continues to cultivate the renowned 600-year-old Okunoyama Tea Garden, the sole remaining tea garden of Kyoto’s historic “seven beautiful gardens”.
