Hojicha powder is a roasted green tea which is milled in the same way as culinary matcha. The fine powder has aromas of of aromatic wood, cocoa and coffee. It is intended for use in baked goods, ice cream and as a latte.
This tea is produced by Nishitana who are based in Fukuroi in Shizuoka prefecture. They have been interested with different levels of roasting in hojicha from light to very deep to showcase the full range of flavours that can be found in tea from roasting. This hojicha powder is a middle roast which gives a soft and delicoius drink.
