Hojicha consists primarily of stems that have been roasted. The stems have been separated from the leaf tissue, which is used for Sencha tea. The stems have a rustic appearance and are an easy tea to prepare as they are not so sensitive to temperature.
The have a soft and round taste, and the roasting adds a nutty taste.
