Kabusecha is a tea that has grown in the shade for approx. one week before picking. This causes the tea to have a sweeter and more nuanced taste and a juicier leaf develops.

Japanese green tea can be enjoyed cold, as well as hot, as these teas have a mild and fresh taste. You can also brew the cold tea in cold water, but the leaves just have to steep for a longer time.

This tea is from our producer Hoshino Seichaen in Yame, Fukuoka, Japan.

Ingredients : green tea.

Preparation

Kabusecha is best brewed in a preheated small teapot, so that you can pour water on the leaves again and make fresh extracts.

Use 1 tbsp. (approx. 8 grams) of tea for 200-250 ml of water. Water temperature: 70 degrees.

First brew: 45 seconds.
Second brew: 5-10 seconds.
Third brew: approx. 1 minute.
Use as soft water as possible for

brewing this tea to achieve the best possible taste, this tea is very sensitive to hard water. Filter if necessary the water with a lime filter before it is boiled.
