The owner of the garden carefully selects high-quality tencha from the tencha-producing areas in Kyoto Prefecture. This matcha has the aroma and flavor of freshly ground tea and is easy to drink. It is often used as a thin tea at tea ceremonies. It tastes even better when drunk with sweets.

Horii Shichimeien, founded in 1879, still manage the 600-year-old Okunuoyama Tea Garden in Uji, Kyoto. This garden is the only survivor of 7 historic tea gardens in Kyoto.Ā
