Youle Sheng Pu erh 2019

Yōulè 攸乐 is one of the ancient six great mountains of Yunnan, the most famous in the past for the production of Pu'er tea.
Smooth, round in the mouth, and perfectly balanced, this sheng pu is a delight for the palate, and a comforting beverage. The first brew is sweet, vegetal, and immediately warming, and further brews release a slow yet persistent fruity aftertaste. This tea has an intense qi that warms the whole body and keeps the mind vigilant, while at the same time infusing a profound sense of relaxation.

This feeling of leisure was the inspiration behind the Chinese characters that appear at the center of the paper that wraps each cake: 悠然自乐 (yōurán zìlè), meaning carefree and content.

The long tea-growing history of Youle mountain started with Jinuo people, who still preserve the centuries-old knowledge on tea production, and convey its ever-changing flavour into the carefully picked and stone-pressed tea leaves that make up this fascinating cake.
